It's time for an overhaul - we're refreshing our Oasis Swim School lesson levels and skills!
Big News! Our Oasis Swim School lesson levels are getting a makeover!
We've been itching to share some exciting news, and now, we finally can! Starting from Term 4 2024, we will be giving our swimming lesson levels a complete overhaul!
For the past six months, we've been hard at work reconfiguring our lesson structure to create much clearer skill progression path for students and their carer's.
Firstly, we've refreshed the naming convention of each level, moving away from the confusing "Active" and "Developing" names to a level 1-10 system with corresponding animal mascots. Additionally, and more importantly, we've restructured the skills within each level to align with national benchmarks for swimming and water safety to ensure we are providing the absolute best practices and standards in swim education.
Each new level has a current equivalent, ie, Active D1 will become Level 1, ensuring a seamless transition for current and recent students. You can check out the new levels below for Term 4 2024 and their current equivalents.

New Level FAQs
Why are you changing and renaming the level structure?
The national benchmarks for swimming and water safety have recently been updated, so to continue to provide the highest level of instruction, we needed to update the skills within each level. We took this opportunity to rename all our levels while re-assessing and updating all the skills to make level progression easier to follow for both students and their carers, ensuring a more effective and enjoyable learning experience.
How are the skills changing?
We’ll be sending out more detailed information soon regarding the updated skills and how they align with the existing level skills. While most of the skills will directly correspond to the current levels, we’ve updated them to improve stroke progression between levels and to incorporate more essential water safety and survival skills. Most of these changes involve rewording, but some skills have been rearranged across levels.
We're currently enrolled in lessons for term 3, what happens during rollover week for term 4?
Current students will rollover into the new level structure based off their current levels as per normal. We'll be taking into consideration the new level structure when conducting assessments during Term 3 to ensure students are enrolled into the correct levels in Term 4.
We’re wanting to enrol our child into Term 4 lessons but we’re not sure which level they should be in, how can we find out?
The best thing to do is book a free assessment so we can determine the best level for your child. You can book an assessment by contacting Oasis reception on 6926 9390.
